Virtual Winter Meet – February 6,2021

Due to concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, this years meet will be virtual instead of in-person. Falconers will gather in their own hunting groups around the state. A virtual guest speaker, Nicole Perretta, will give a presentation on Reading Your Accipiters.

Nicole began studying and drawing birds as a child. She has worked as a field researcher, bird bander, published wildlife illustrator, accipiter rehab consultant, avicultrist, nature educator, performer, and zookeeper. She got her falconry license in 1992, and has flown birds every season since. Her favorites are to hunt with are micro falcons, and accipiters.

More details to follow and will be updated here or via e-mail.

This talk will be an introduction to reading the body language of accipiters. We’ll take an ornithological approach on how feathers and posture can indicate an accipiters mood and well-being.
